If you haven’t downloaded it already, the new and improved eduroam Ccompanion app for android and iphone is a must-have location finder for eduroam wifi hotspots around Australia and the world. From Perth to Turku, Tokyo to Santiago, at universities, hospitals, airports and train stations, eduroam wifi access is available at more than 12,000 locations worldwide.
This new version of the eduroam Companion app has been developed for the global research and education community by our colleagues at Jisc, the organisation that operates the UK national research and education network. It offers the same functionality as its predecessor, mapping the global eduroam estate and helping end users discover more about and navigate to locations that offer eduroam wifi connectivity.
eduroam allows users from participating institutions to gain secure wireless network access at other participating institutions across Australia and around the globe using the standard username and password credentials they use at their home institution for wireless network access.
eduroam is available at more than 12,000 locations worldwide. In Australia, 38 universities participate in eduroam, as well as a number of research institutes, hospitals, schools and cultural organisations.
