Unified Communications Exchange

Interconnecting a wide range of telephony and videoconferencing systems on-net for the research and education community

Unified Communications Exchange

AARNet's Unified Communications Exchange (AUCX) makes it easy for AARNet customers to communicate and collaborate with colleagues in the Australian and international research and education communities via phone and video calls.

The AUCX seamlessly interconnects many forms of multimedia communications, from basic audio telephony (VoIP) and video telephony to room-based videoconferencing systems.

  • Improves performance of telephony and videoconference calls for faculty and staff
  • Calls to other national and international institutions connected to the AUCX are free
  • Reduces costs of telephony and videoconference calls
  • AUCX is an on-net service to other research and education community members within Australia and worldwide
  • AUCX is vendor-agnostic infrastructure built on advanced technologies
  • Access AARNet technical expertise for help with AUCX integration, deployment and management without having to build specialised skills in house.
  • AUCX ensures connected institutions follow best practice guidelines for call routing between institutions

Joining the AUCX is another way for institutions to leverage the AARNet network’s high-performing capabilities and extensive reach across Australia and around the world.  This is also a way for some institutions to make the most of investments in IP Telephony and videoconferencing technologies. For others, the AUCX service provides a solution for facilitating high quality cross-institution video collaboration without the need to invest in special rooms.
