You can use AARNet Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to establish a private and secure remote connection to campuses, data centres and cloud service providers easily and efficiently.

We offer Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs. These services can be aggregated and delivered via a single trunk running from an AARNet network access point (NAP) to network termination units (NTUs) based at your sites.

Layer 2 Point-to-point and multipoint Virtual Private Networks

Layer 2 Point-to-Point and Multipoint VPNs (L2VPNs) connect institutions and campuses together at Layer 2, enabling network managers to maintain absolute control over their network. 

From a network manager’s perspective, L2 VPNs acts like a giant, private, geographically distributed Layer 2 switch.

Use Cases

This solution provides layer 2 connectivity where additional control is required, such as for hosted virtual server environments.

Layer 3 Multipoint VPNs are most useful where many sites need to be connected together
