Voice over IP
AARNet has been supporting the Australian Research & Education
community for more than ten years in the area of Voice over IP (VoIP). AARNet currently provides a VoIP on.net only service.
VoIP on.net service is an add-on service for AARNet customers who also peer their gateways or gatekeepers or endpoints with AARNet’s gatekeeper (202.158.196.153) to save PSTN call costs. When such customers make a call to another peered customer, the call will be setup over AARNet network rather than PSTN. This will apply to both voice and video calls.
To apply for this service, please following the steps below.
Complete the online form at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/voip-video-on-net-services
- A ticket will then be created automatically and assigned to the RTC Engineer.
- The RTC Engineer will contact you to review the registration details.
- The RTC Engineer will then configuration on AARNet Gatekeeper.
- The RTC Engineer will email the configuration details to be added to equipment owned by the customer - customer to add.
- Tests will commence and conclude (if successful)
- On the success of the cross testing, the service is up running and the job ticket will be closed.
