Real Time Communication

Real Time Communications covers dynamic two way interactive communications.  Real Time Communication applications allow our customers to be able to communicate, collaborate, exchange ideas, discuss in detail; and use Audio/Video/Shared Applications.  

Various technologies/systems that are being examined and may have potential include: 
on.net VoIP/SIP, Videoconferencing, IMChat, Presence, MCU, High Definition Video Conferencing, Telepresence.  

AARNet has created an improved Gatekeeper service to enable access to Voice over IP on.net and Video over IP / ISDN services.

Current activities include

  • The delivery and enhancement of voice/video conferencing in a cost effective way;
  • The operation of a national video conferencing support service;
  • Enhancements to the AARNet booking and conferencing services;
  • Access to streaming and recording services
  • Developments to integrate both VoIP (E.164 and SIP) and desktop video ( EVO and ViVu desktop video conferencing platforms) with existing H.323 MCU conferencing bridges.
