The
National Health Innovation and Training Pilot
AARNet has been active in establishing
and promoting a pilot network known as the Australian Health Innovation and
Training Network. This pilot will use the Danish Health System’s connection
agreement software to provide audited access to an AARNet hosted health
innovation and training network accessible from health campuses across the
country.
The pilot Australian Health Innovation and Training Network
is a strategy to engage with the health sector at a national level to address
the issues members face in trying to connect to health campuses. It also
represents a vehicle that could in the very long term result in infrastructure
sharing between the sectors. It should encourage entities within the health
sector to join AARNet in support their research, education, training and
innovation activities.
The vision for the national
network is shown is the diagram below. The
initial pilot involves the University of Western Sydney, the Queensland Health
Skills Development Centre and the Centre for Health Innovation located at the
Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. While the pilot is largely funded by AARNet, the University of
Queensland is making a major contribution through the provision of a tail
connection in Brisbane for the duration of the two year pilot program.
