  1. Where do we start? Well, You've started at Wikipedia so why don't we see how yo can help the global community who put together their pages? Or Wikiversity. We're at the point there where some of the guys put together Wikipedia Weekly. We have to use Skype(cast) for the lack of any alternative. Could we consider how, with the collaboration of some of your peers at a few NREN we could come up with something OS, SIP equivalent? The aim is to have the beginnings of a SIP network based around groups. i.e The head directory in each country would be groups.edu.au, groups.ac.uk and so on. And bring the libraries to the virtual room, so it would tend to look something like janetcollaborate. The framework would use a bibliographic number to define the "room" for each group, which will be identical in each country, so the development will require the involvement of a National librarian (or OCLC). If we can get that far we could see about growing it into an involvement with SciVee and its researchchannel peers to do the utube thing. I'd like to go to HP as the mother of this project. http://www.oerderves.org/ If you're interested please can we set up a forum, so we can get the conversation above the radar ASAP?

  3. I think we may be re-inventing the wheel here, I'd prefer us to use what is already there. We have a mailing list, we've tried bulletin boards for the enum try, these were never used as it is hard enough to keep on top of email, let alone log into other system, track them or get even more email to notify you of posts. The idea of a SIP based network that links islands of SIP communities together is being explored within the APAN SIP WG right now, AARNet are watching these developments whilst we look to recruit expertise to cover this area. If anyone has interest in this and similar projects please see the APAN SIP mail archives (you'll need to subscribe to see it ) and lets start a discussion on the vvc-l@aarnet.edu.au mailing list.
