The Mel8 Technical team, along with the Applications & Services team from AARNet, the bandwidth sponsor for Linux.Conf.Au 2008, organised a special treat for those who had hoped to attend but missed the boat.

Those who were stuck at work earning a crust, at home watching the kids, or in a cafe enjoying a coffee could tune there VLC compatible player and watch a live stream of each 9am Keynote presentation.

The streams were encoded into ogg format, using the theora video codec and vorbis audio codec, and were delivered from the conference floor to an Icecast server for live redistribution via the AARNet network - open source products from start to finish (as it should be, I hear you think!).

Archives of other conference sessions can be found on linux.conf.au
