"AARNet Anywhere" personal video service Beta Tests

aarnet-anywhere

AARNet are working in partnership with ViVu to deliver "AARNet Anywhere" a beta product to enable personal video conferencing that supports Skype.  To participate in the trial of two new multipoint webconferencing platforms: VuCast and VuRoom you will need to register for a test account.

Test accounts can only be given out to individuals affiliated with an AARNet-connected institute.

In contrast to VuCast calls, VuRoom calls can only be setup and hosted from MacOSX and Windows machines that also have a Skype client installed.

A Linux client that allows VuRoom call setup isn't yet available.

This is a restriction for VuRoom hosts only; any machine with a browser and a flash plugin can host VuCast calls (audio is then routed through the flash plugin)

Any machine with a browser, a flash plugin and a Skype client can participate in VuRoom calls.

Once we receive your details (and we ascertain that you are indeed eligible) we will be in touch to get you started with your setup.

The beta tests are designed to test the product and the reach of the service to AARNet connected institutions where for example Skype may be blocked.  We're keen to develop a large base of tester across all customers and to hear your feedback on your experiences with this product.
