The Desktop Video Project Group (DVPG) was formed to evaluate desktop based video conferencing solutions to be used in Australian Universities and Research institutions. This group believes that there is no “one‐size fits all” when it comes to desktop video conferencing.
Many universities have fed back that they have heard from AARNet that EVO is the only recommended solution. This is simply one solution created by a particular community and tailored to their needs. This group has completed a review of a broader range of “off‐the‐shelf” applications that are grouped into particular “types” that have been evaluated to offer a broader and greater relevance for institutional users and support teams.
Current Status (This project group has now closed)
A final report presenting an independent
assessment of personal/desktop video applications (as of July 2010) has
been written and is now available online. DVPG-final-report-July2010 (PDF 6.27 Mb)
