The ARMI will be one of the world's largest regenerative medicine and stem cell research centres.

The Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute (ARMI) is a $153 million medical research centre located on the Monash University Clayton campus which focuses on unraveling the basic mechanisms of the regenerative process, enabling doctors to prevent, halt and reverse damage to vital organs due to disease, injury or genetic conditions.

This work will deliver the next generation of discoveries in regenerative medicine and form the basis of treatments for conditions such as neurodegenerative disorders, diabetes, arthritis, musculo-skeletal and cardiovascular diseases.

Dr James Bourne was appointed to Group Leader position at the ARMI in January 2009. James brings unique expertise in primate neurobiology. His skills and expertise in primate research will enable him to undertake cross-disciplinary research collaborations within ARMI and beyond and will form an important component of translational research to humans.

AARNet’s broad coverage and high capacity communications provide important support to James’s work at ARMI in establishing collaborations with the wider scientific community in both Australia and overseas.
