A new free video conferencing event takes place in Victoria this May and is open to eligible members of the Australian R&E community that are working in the Audio Visual, Video Conferencing and IT support areas responsible for the delivery of video conferencing services.

This event was recommended at the 2008 real time communications roadshow to encourage the Victorian R&E community to meet and share experiences and knowledge in the video area.

Join Monash University, AARNet, Integrated Vision and others to explore a new communications technology showcase for meetings and for collaborations.  Monash University will share their experience in (a) developing this technology and (b) improving the end user experience.

This FREE event takes place at  the Monash Clayton Campus – Bldg 75, on May 25th
Start time: 10am, End time: 4.30pm

We look forward to seeing you there, (Interstate visitors from around the Australian Academic and Research community are also invited to attend).

The AARNet HD Assessment report is now available to AARNet customers on the Ning collaboration platform.

For those of you not familiar with Ning it is a social online community that allows discussion and comment in an interactive manner so we need to do a verification of who you are in order that we can open up online collaboration and comments.

Please register your interest at http://tinyurl.com/NVCSHDReport and we will create an account for you to login and view the report, as well as contribute to keeping the resources updated. We’re keen to hear your views and contribute to making this a ‘living document’.

From the Executive Summary:

“The report touches briefly on both technical and non-technical considerations when deciding what HD or Telepresence product to choose to meet specific enterprise needs, that will be "future proofed" and that can integrate with personal/desktop video, collaboration tools and unified communications suites. That decision is a considerable challenge that requires coordination within the enterprise and across the sector. It is hoped that this report can build further in gathering knowledge to help customers make appropriate decisions on their video and communications strategies. AARNet seeks to determine its role in coming years beyond conferencing and Quality Assurance services and welcomes any suggestions to be able to assist its customers.”
